On 10 December 2025, the FSANZ Board approved changes to the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code to permit phosphoinositide phospholipase C (PLC) from genetically modified Bacillus licheniformis as a processing aid in degumming of fats and oils.
Consultation and assessment
FSANZ released the public call for submissions in September 2025. Feedback from this consultation, along with our scientific assessment informed our final decision.
