Systematic Review of the Evidence for a Relationship between Walnuts and Endothelium-dependent Vasodilation In 2012, FSANZ considered 241 European Union (EU)-authorised health claims for inclusion as food-health relationships in Standard 1.2.7 - Nutrition, Health and Related Claims. In total, 183 food-health relationships from the EU were included in the Standard. We committed to consider a further 32 health claims. Technical Assessment - Carbohydrate claims about food containing alcohol In November 2017, the Australia and New Zealand Ministerial Forum on Food Regulation (the Forum) discussed sugar claims in relation to alcoholic beverages. The meeting communiqué stated that Forum ministers are aware of an increasing number of alcoholic beverages for sale in Australia and New Zealand with the claim they are '% sugar-free'. It also stated that ministers are concerned that these claims on alcoholic beverages are misleading and that alcohol is being promoted as a healthier choice for consumers when public health advice is to limit alcohol intake. The annual cost of foodborne illness in Australia In 2020, FSANZ commissioned the Australian National University (ANU) to develop a cost model and report on the annual cost of foodborne illness in Australia. The cost model was used to generate estimates of costs for the report but is also a standalone product that can be updated and used by FSANZ and other regulators.
